Challenge

The Motuo Nature Center, created with Motuo County and China National Geographic, is a permanent exhibition space under the theme “Motuo, Of the World.” It’s organized into three zones that help visitors understand what Motuo is, what it has, and what to do there. The goal is to make rich, complex information feel clear and approachable. Visually, the exhibition uses a contemporary, abstract language drawn from local references, bringing together large-scale walls, zone graphics, and small-format prints into one cohesive experience.

Architecture Design

Main Entrance Wall Design
I defined the main entrance wall graphic language to
align with the exhibition’s required tone: professional, information friendly, refined, and elevated

Giant Tree Zone I led this zone’s design from concept through fabrication handoff, using the venue’s existing columns to extend a scaled giant tree across the main wall for a seamless architectural fit. I also developed the interpretive approach, translating the content into engaging and interactive graphic formats, including branch based QnA pathways and simplified silhouette comparisons which extended across other zones

Cloud ZoneI designed the cloud display zone by distributing cloud imagery and captions across the full surface in a scattered yet structured layout, capturing Motuo’s ever changing cloud forms while keeping the information clear and legible

Pattern DesignThe exhibition patterns are preserving Motuo’s traditional ethnic totems and motifs while translating them into a modern style

IllustrationsIllustrations designed by me, inspired by Motuo’s traditional ethnic dress, translating key motifs into a modern geometric language and applied on a layered stamp
