AranyaPost is the online and offline media arm of Aranya, a landmark cultural-tourism community in China and one of the country’s most influential culture-led real estate brands. As an experimental newspaper for Aranya’s cutting-edge image, it showcases photography, graphic design, theater, contemporary art, live music, and more, with each issue inviting a different design studio to create the cover and an independent photographer to interpret the theme through their own lens.
For issue 2, themed “Rabbit Hole,” I represented 2x4 Beijing in a competitive pitch. I was selected to design the cover and layout for the “Curated Finds” section, which also served as the core grid system for the publication. I used the Tan-Grandeur typeface, true to its name, a highly stylized display font with bold, almost psychedelic energy, rotated and layered to evoke the feeling of Alice falling into a strange, shifting world. I then extended this system across the internal photography layouts to maintain visual coherence.
After launch, issue 2 was well received, and the cover was later reused across posters, murals, socks, and other aranyaPost merchandise.
